We all want the same thing, to be discovered on the first page of Google. To be able to do so, we need to find terms that are easy to rank for. Keyword research is extremely important to secure your online marketing strategy for optimal success.
What Is A Profitable Keyword
Quality traffic will bring your closer to your business goals and increase your revenue and keywords are the foundation of getting discovered among search engines and ranking for the right keywords, sales- generating keywords can impact your business bottom line.
When your potential customer is looking for an answer, a product or a service, they will turn to the search engine of choice. When they type in their search term, you need to be there to show up for them, and the way you can do this is by using SEO properly on your website with profitable keywords. However, everybody is different, and the search phrases that are used will vary, which does make it more difficult to find the keywords that you actually want to use.
You can find keywords fast if you use strategic and actionable phrases when conducting your keyword research. Putting the focus on a popular keyword MIGHT get you some traffic, but it could also take a long time to start ranking with Google. If you use specific keywords, you have a higher chance of targetting the right visitors and get you better rankings on Google. Both qualities that bring in more leads and sales.

These are the keywords that get the sale and grab the conversion.
Before you can find keywords to rank for, you need to ensure you found a profitable niche. You may already have a niche, but sometimes you need to "niche down" further to get the rank because if there are a lot of popular websites talking about your niche, perhaps it's time to niche down a little bit more.
You don't want to be in a super competitive space. Validate the search demand by using the Google Keyword Planner Tool.
Think about your blogs main topics that you will cover and make a small list of broad informational keywords such as "fitness tips" or "yoga poses" and type them into the Google Keyword Planner.
A good amount of keywords to search would be about 10.
By doing this, we are casting a large net to see what we can find out about your niche.
Keywords that are in the 10k-100k monthly search volume range have significant demand and are not too competitive.
Stay away from keywords that have 1 million search results. Avoid this uphill battle!
Pick out specific niche keywords that have a search volume in the 10, 000 to 100 000 range.
After you have a list of niche keywords, analyze them in Google Trends.
The Google Trends Tool is free to use as well.
Add your keywords into the comparison tabs at the top of the page and click for your results.
You'll want to choose the keyword that is going up in popularity and stay away from keywords that are staying still or going down in search volume.
Google Trends also shows you what time of year these topics peak at. That can be used to your advantage when planning your advertising campaigns.
So now that you know how to "niche down", you can find the profitable keywords in your niche.
Tips for finding the right kind of keywords
Know Your Competition
Before you can go looking for sales oriented keywords, you need to know your competitors like the back of your hand. To be able to rank in your niche, you'll need to complete a competitor analysis report. Nothing too crazy, but find out what your competition is ranking for.
There are so many keyword research tools available, and most are free for our use, my favorite being Ubersuggest by Neil Patel and Google Keyword Finder as a close second. The only issue about using these tools right off the bat is that you do not know which keywords you need to research! You'll end up using keywords that were suggested and you may never rank. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack.
The most effective strategies, especially when you are just starting out, involve inspecting your competition closely and use their buyer intent ranking keywords on your site.
Find Profitable Keywords Fast With Forums
If you don't know who your competition is, search some potential questions your target customer would ask you. Find your customers questions by going to Quora or Reddit and browsing your niche for questions users have posted. You can also join some Facebook groups within your niche and use the group search function to find potential questions users are asking.
Look into discussions and find awesome profitable keywords with low competition that Google keyword planner will never show you.
For example, you run a site that sells running shoes, you head over to Reddit search and type running shoes.
It's a good idea to gather as many high-quality keywords as you can and then generate some blog post ideas from that list.
If you see a subreddit community related to your search, subscribe and lurk there. Then go to the search results and see what people are asking, what are trending phrases?
The same thing happens on Quora, let's do the running shoe example again.
Google Related Searches
Google related search is a little Goldmine that sits in the middle of the search results page. Type in your actionable niche related keyword and see the results. Your profitable keywords are instantly available to you in a matter of seconds. This is what they call, low-hanging fruit because it's right there at your fingertips and it is a feature we see in action every day.
This feature, however, needs to be used properly, because if you are searching for a generic keyword, you can get some irrelevant results. Case and point.
The first results helped us because there was an action word used in conjunction with the describing word (Tips + Pinterest), thus creating a list of profitable keywords.
The second result is rather irrelevant and confusing. This is no help for profitable keyword research.
Since Pinterest is a search engine, it behaves relatively similar to Google, so you can use this strategy there as well.
Here you have focused, actionable long tail keywords.
What you have witnessed here, is a fabulous shortcut for finding keywords that answer your customer's questions.
Google Advanced Search Tricks
We just went over the super simple way to find profitable keywords in Google, now let's learn about a little more complex strategy that can generate some pretty great results.
There are 2 ways to use this method and I'll go through both of them here. This is one of my favorite ways to find profitable keywords fast.
- Formula: intitle:niche + “keyword”
- Formula: niche + “keyword”
The first formula not only helps you find the best-performing articles but also provides insight into the popular headlines. This method is more focused in and will return fewer results than method 2, but it still very relevant to our profitable keyword research.
From this search, you can see that "Pinterest Marketing Tips" Pinterest Tips For Success" and "Pinterest Tips and Tricks" rank well on Google.
Method 2 Formula: niche + “keyword” results:
You can see this does bring up a slightly different result. The key thing to notice is that numbered lists do very well when this search method is used. You can quickly find a pattern when you conduct these types of searches such as "list posts" rank well for the keywords containing "Pinterest Tips".
Competitor On Page SEO Hack
This method a little bit sneaky but you can "inspect" the page you want to outrank your competition for.
To use this method, when you are on your competitor's website, If you’re using the Chrome browser, press CTLR + U (windows), CMD + U + OPTION (mac).
I won't spy on my competitors with this post, but I will show you a screenshot of one of my popular pages.
Within this source code, I searched for the H1 tag and found that "SEO For Beginners" was my keyword. You can also see that seo-for-beginners in my URL, so you know for sure, that is my ranking keyword!
Super huge timesaver if you know your competitors.
The Best Amazon Trick For E-Commerce Profitable Keyword Research
I first learned this trick from youtube guru Sunny Lenarduzi and have been using this feature ever since she mentioned it in one of her youtube keyword research videos! I can't recall which video at this point, but I know the process well and I'll share the knowledge with you.
When you go to Amazon.com and type in your product type. How about running shoes as an example.
First, you can use the suggested search options just like we did in the Google example.
Those terms are pretty broad but maybe you can use them as topic ideas for your next blog post.
Let's dig for keywords. Finish the search and filter for the top 4/5 star review products.
Click through the products and locate similar phrases. Those are your targetted keywords.
